Maura Writes:
"We
all know how difficult it is to find the right shampoo, conditioner or styling
product to suit our individual hair needs. Once we find something that works
we might stick with it for a few weeks and then again we start a new search
for something more powerful and effective. Our quest will continue. Have you
seriously considered that no amount of hair styling cream, gel, or mousse
might provide you with the right style if you are not using the correct
'hairbrush'?"
"I was one of
those individuals who never thought much about hair stying 'brushes' until I
purchased a Jean-Pierre brush at the recommendation of a friend. I had heard
so many good things about this particular brand of high-quality brush. The day
I started using my Classique Jean-Pierre hairbrush, I noticed an amazing shine
and the texture of my hair was smoother. It grips my hair evenly when I am
blow drying, but instantly releases when I unwind. The handle is easy to grasp
and control while you are brushing or blow drying your hair. It never tugs or
pulls at your hair."
"When looking
for a new hairbrush, remember these tips: Choose a brush that can manage your
hair's length, thickness, texture and styling needs. A good quality brush will
be an investment and can last you 10-20 years if you take care of it. Always
clean your brushes after each use. A high-quality brush can promote healthy
hair and shine, even more then regular styling products."
"Jean-Pierre
brushes have been compared to the Mason-Pearson brushes with regard to fine
workmanship, quality, but definately not the price. Jean-Pierre brushes are
30%-40% lower then Mason-Pearson, yet provide outstanding similar results.
They are manufactured in France and are currently being sold in selected
salons throughout the US and Canada."
"The
Jean-Pierre brush I use on a daily basis is the Classique (M) professional
quality round brush with premium natural boar bristles. The suggested retail
price is $31.95 (USD). Everyone's hair is different, but with fourteen
hairbrush styles to choose from, Jean-Pierre is the way to go. You can log on
to their web site to find out more about these amazing brushes. I treasure the
Classique and have become very attached to it. It helps my long layers become
smoother and more even textured. I can recreate some sleek styles with this
brush and I'm sure you will find one that suits your hair style as well."
"I am just a
very happy customer!"

Alanna Writes:
"I must confess that, until recently, I had been using the same hairbrush I have owned since I was 8 years old. I don't know where it came from, or how much it cost, but that old paddle brush was the only thing that could get through my mass of long straight hair. The individual strands of my hair are very fine - but the growth is so dense it appears and feels thicker. It tangles very easily and most brushes aren't able to get through the sheer density. Other brushes tend to pull, out clumps of hair, while literally scratching my scalp."
"So when my beloved brush broke recently I didn't know what to do. I tried every brush available on the market - from the most expensive to the $1.99 variety. Regardless of price, nothing seemed to suit my hair. Eventually I found a nice inexpensive boar bristle brush that did the trick almost as well as my old brush. Yet, although this new brush was nice, I wasn't completely content. I was looking for something a little softer, yet still able to get through my masses of hair. I needed a combination nylon/natural bristle brush that was sturdy, durable and cost effective - something that would give my hair a little polish."
"I
had pretty much given up on finding something like this until I came across Jean-Pierre Creations website on the Internet. This line boasted a huge array of brushes in natural, nylon and combination bristles - in every style and shape imaginable. All of their hairbrushes included
'a 30-Day 100% Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee' "
"My brush of preference is the Prestige Melange hairbrush, which
'consists of 11 rows of a special blend of First Cut Premium Natural Boar and Black Nylon Bristle tufts set in a black pneumatic cushion. The special boar and nylon bristle blend results in a slightly stiffer bristle that is perfect for hair types ranging from normal to
thick.' It costs $46.95, and although this is still a bit pricey (one of their most expensive brushes), it is a high quality item - comparable to Mason-Pearson brushes, but without the exorbitant price tag."
"If you are unsure which brush to choose, look no further than this site. You are given the information and tools necessary to make the correct choice, whatever your needs. If you prefer to browse the brushes yourself, visit the
'Choosing A Brush page for detailed information about which hairbrush (or hairbrushes) is best suited to your hair type, hair length, and hair styling
needs.' If you just want quick results you can use the 'Brush Wizard', an 'interactive tool that helps you find the perfect hairbrush for your hair type and styling
needs.' If you are still 'uncertain about which bristle type would be best for your individual hair type or which model might be best for
you', you are encouraged to e-mail their friendly customer service department with any questions you may have."
"As Jean-Pierre's site correctly states
'With frequent use, a premium quality natural boar bristle hairbrush can do more to promote healthy, shiny hair than many of the hundreds of shampoos and conditioners available in today's market. And when used in conjunction with a good quality shampoo and conditioner, it's tough to find a tool that offers as much
'beauty benefit'. Not to mention, that with a life expectancy of approximately 10 to 20 years, a premium quality boar bristle hairbrush packs a ton of benefit for well under five dollars a year--a real beauty
bargain!' Think of it as an investment, rather than a luxury."
"So if you have normal to thick long hair, or even finer hair that is very abundant like mine, definitely give this brush a try. And even if you have any other hair type, take a quick visit to Jean Pierre Creations' website and view their impressive range. Every brush is excellent quality - and with convenient online ordering and a guarantee of satisfaction, you can't go wrong!"

Beauty Buzz
Beauty Buzz first debuted in October 1997 and focuses on beauty, fashion and fitness for the average consumer. Panelists Kristin, Bonnie, and Stevie recently reviewed 4 Jean-Pierre Hairbrush models; the Prestige Mélange™ featuring a special blend of First Cut Natural
Boar Bristle and Black Nylon, the Privilège™ in Crystalline Nylon, the Desirée™ in First Cut Natural Boar, and the Classique™ (M) in First Cut Natural Boar Bristle. Here's what they had to say about the products.
September 1999
Beauty Buzz Panelist Stevie Writes:
"Hi there! I'm Stevie and I am reviewing HOUSE OF JEAN-PIERRE PARIS HAIRBRUSHES. I was blessed with 4 brushes to review and they are the best thing I have ever seen in a hair brush."
"Why review a hairbrush? Contrary to popular opinion, it is NOT just your styling products that make or break your hair style. Brushes are crucial instruments in the styling and the condition of your hair. Just as a good chef will tell you the right cookware makes all the
difference, a hair brush can make help or harm your hair. It is important to invest in a quality tool for your hair. You do it for foundations, you do it for shoes or handbags; you should spend the money on a good hairbrush or two."
"Here is what I tried from this fabulous company."
"PRESTIGE MELANGE a large format cushioned hairbrush with combination first cut natural boar bristle and black nylon. This is a blended brush that works quite well for normal to very thick hair. It is a general purpose brush or can be used for finishing work. All I
can say is this is a KILLER brush. This is a real star!! While it is not exactly suitable for me and my hair type unless I blow dry straight, this is the PERFECT brush for my child's hair and my SO's hair. Their hair looked fabulous and really shiny after using this for a couple of weeks. Quite frankly, my child has appropriated this brush and
practically sleeps with it. It removes snarls and tangles easily and stimulates the scalp. It feels really great!! PRESTIGE MELANGE--5 stars"
"PRIVILEGE is an elongated format cushioned hairbrush made of crystalline nylon. It is used for wet brushing and detangling. It is so fabulous that the entire family can use this brush. I use it on both my child and myself. (skip the SO because he got a Clooney caesar
cut.) It detangles my hair so nicely. I find the staggered height bristles are gentle on the wet hair strands and this is really useful around my home. PRIVILEGE NYLON -- 5 stars"
"DESIREE small format cushioned hairbrush in first cut natural boar bristle and it is great for traveling and for purse or car. It fits into most handbags easily and since it is the same first cut boar bristle, it still gives great results and shine. The handle is easy to
hold and does not make your hand wilt while you are working on your hair. This is one really great brush and it works quite well on my family's hair types--even mine!! This size is more an optional brush because it is smaller, but it would be perfect if you have munchkins in the house and need to have a good brush for them in a smaller easier to
hold size. Also it means yours go untouched! For quality, it is unsurpassed. This is a terrific brush. DESIREE NATURAL BOAR BRISTLE -- 5 stars"
"CLASSIQUE ROUND STYLING BRUSH is a medium format with first cut natural boar bristle. If you need a GREAT styling brush for turning the hair while blowdrying, this is THE brush for you. It comes in 3 sizes and one is perfect for almost every style of hair that would be
styled with a blowdryer. I used this brush on my child's hair and it was a perfect pageboy for days. Talk about a perfect curve under. It really works well and grips the hair firmly without tangling. This is a great brush for styling hair. I highly recommend it. While I could not use it on my hair, for all of you out there who want a straight look
or something with a bit of curl or wave, this is a great brush. I loved the way it felt on the head. CLASSIQUE ROUND STYLING BRUSH --5 stars"
"By visiting the HOUSE OF JEAN-PIERRE website, you can learn how to choose the right hairbrush(es) for you and how best to maintain them. You treat the brushes well, they will last a long, long time. While shampoos and conditioners and other products are used up in a relatively
short period of time, hairbrushes really last a long time and with proper care, the brushes from HOUSE OF JEAN-PIERRE can last almost 20 years. Factor that into the cost of these brushes and the cost is so little annually as to not be significant --as in less than 3 dollars per year. ( not per month, per year!) With a 100% unconditional total
satisfaction guarantee covering defects in materials and workmanship, the HOUSE OF JEAN-PIERRE stands behind their products. I plan on buying more brushes gang; that is how great they are!"

July 1999
Beauty Buzz Panelist Kristin Writes:
"To be honest, hairbrushes are not something I usually think about beyond a six or seven buck expense at a local drugstore or beauty supply. I've been woefully ignorant on the subject for years, and beyond some basic common sense considerations, did not particularly
care which one I even purchased, as long as it was okay for long hair, fairly large sized and did not hurt! It never really occurred to me that it could make such a difference..."
"I never considered the breakage on my ends to be more than the often inevitable outcome of long hair needing a trim, or all the coloring that I do......its the same crazy logic where women won't wear sunscreen but spend lots of money on products to undo damage. It
never occurred to me that the BRUSH that I used would make such a significant difference..."
"MELANGE - This is their newest hairbrush. The one I tried was a combination of first-cut natural boar bristle and black nylon, (suited for normal and very thick hair. )The site recommends this one in the all-boar for those with finer hair texture - and
I think this would have been even better for me, not because my hair is fine textured but because of its dryness and it being color-treated). The very thickest heads of hair may respond best to the combination as listed here, or even the all-nylon because it 'cuts thru' hair a little better. However, because boar bristles are very efficient at
distributing scalp oils, it helps encourage shine in the hair and cuts down on the 'oily scalp, dry hair' syndrome much better than any conditioner will...the full sized paddle brush was easy to use, the padded surface was gentle and comfortable, and was best suited for me as a general brushing tool. Four
stars, very efficient and comfortable, it has indeed been more gentle to my hair and thus has become indispensable."
"DESIREE - This brush has really sold me on the concept of all-boar bristles, and made me wish I'd tried the Melange in the boar as well! Its smaller size means it ended up in my purse, and what I really like it that it was small enough to fit in there, but large enough to be a quality brush for on the go touchups.
Many small, cheap purse brushes I have found to be hard to manage, and quite hard on the head. This one, just like its larger cousins, was cushioned, comfortable, and easy on my hair and scalp. A terrific, reasonably priced quality brush for home or purse. Five stars!"
"Overall, I am really happy with my newfound brushes and the knowledge of 'what does what' when it comes to shape and type of bristle. With a particularly big 'thumbs up' to the Desiree and Melange, I recommend this as a great line for someone looking to step up
into a higher quality brush at an affordable price. I saw a reduction in breakage, an increase in shine and less oily-vs-dry contrast from ends to scalp once I used these regularly. I don't think you'll be
disappointed!"

July 1999
Beauty Buzz Panelist Bonnie Writes:
"For those of you who know me, one of the most noticeable things is my hair. I have very long, thick hair that is very dense. Over the years, I have collected about 60 hairbrushes of varying quality. From boar’s bristle, natural wooden and bamboo, to just plain
vented plastic so I know the value of a quality brush. Recently, I was given the opportunity from Kristin to try some very exclusive and high-end hairbrushes from France..."
"The first brush I tried is called Privilege. The brush I tried was purely synthetic with clear bristles. I found that the bristles were firm and invigorating on my scalp, and among the 4 brushes I tried was the best for really reaching into my
thick hair and taming it. The bristles were of a perfect firmness to use on damp hair. The narrower width of the brush area was also comfortable to use. The brush is also perfectly weighted to feel comfortable in the hand."
"I give the Jean Pierre Privilege brush a 5 star rating because it was effective, and surprisingly high quality. Everything seems to be calculated on this brush to provide the best usage. It is also
very well made and would probably last a much longer time than a cheaper product."
"Next, I tried the Prestige [Mélange]. I reviewed a larger, wider brush that had a combination of Natural Boar and synthetic bristles. I found that this was a nice brush to use after wet detangling with the Privilege. The combination of bristles gave the
benefits of boar bristle with the firmness of synthetic so it was able to work through my thick hair. This brush seemed to “polish” my hair because I noticed a change in shine and softness in my hair after a week. I would not recommend using only this brush if you have thick hair like me. It is better to get your detangling done first and use
this brush for finishing your hair."
"I give this brush a 5 star rating as well because it was comfortable to use, and the combination bristles worked with my dense hair and there was a noticeable shine improvement."
"Overall, Jean-Pierre Brushes are of an excellent quality that is obvious from the feel of the brush in the hand, the materials, and the sturdy construction. They are definitely high quality brushes that are worth the price because they are a good investment. If you have thick,
dense hair like mine, you should select carefully to pick brushes that will reach through the hair to comb out tangles effectively and polish the cuticle."
